New Project! Timber Frame Extension!

We’re excited to share our latest project, a single storey, timber frame extension on a lovely family home. The family are staying in the house throughout the build, so our first couple of weeks have been all about preparation. That means making the property safe, secure and as dust-free as possible, so day-to-day life can carry on around us.
Why do we put so much into the prep?
Prep work isn’t the most glamorous part of a build, and it’s not what people picture when they think of a new extension. But it’s one of the most important stages. Time spent here pays off for the rest of the project.
When a family is living on site, it matters even more. Over the past fortnight we’ve:
Put up scaffolding to give safe, stable access for the works
Carefully stripped back the existing roof, ready for the new structure
Sheeted and protected the open areas to keep the weather out
Sealed off the work areas from the rest of the house to keep dust and debris away from living spaces
Set up clear, safe routes so the family can move around their home as normal
Getting this right from the start means fewer surprises later and a cleaner, tidier site. It also means a lot less disruption for the people who live there. A good finish starts with a good start.
What’s next?
Joinery works start this week, which is when things really start to take shape. Behind the scenes, the bathroom and kitchen plans are being drawn up so everything is ready to go when we reach that stage.
Follow along...
We’ll be posting regular updates as the project moves forward, from the frame going up all the way through to the finished kitchen and bathroom. Keep an eye on our website to watch it come together! Fingers crossed for some dry weather!!
